A digital camera, We suggest a DSLR (manually adjustable with a hotshoe) but you can use a point and shoot if need be.
A film camera (Ooooo Nostalgia)
You can use a Cell Phone (Your results may vary from others)

Rugged Shoes (We may walk a bit)
Notebook or note taking device for, you guessed it, notes!
